Babalumni Christmas party!

Dear fellow Alumni,

Welcome to the Babalumni Christmas Party – the party you have been waiting for ever since surviving the crayfish shindig! Time is certainly right for yet another great opportunity to get together with your old baba-friends and to meet new amazing alumni while enjoying the Christmas spirit!

The event takes place on Saturday, November 26th at Siltanen in Helsinki’s Kallio where we will wine and dine in fabulous company!

Siltanen has reserved a space from 18.00 til’ closing time (~2am) just for us, but unlike with the Crayfish party, we will not be requiring binding sign-ups at this point. However, as the reserved space has its limits, we appreciate any info on definite show-ups! (And so will other Babas – spread the word ;)

If you want to look at the menu beforehand, it can be found at http://www.siltanen.org/a-la-carte/ We will not be having any set menu, but instead everybody is encouraged to eat and/or drink to their own liking. Please note in any case that the kitchen closes at 11 pm.

You don’t want to miss out on an evening involving good food, intoxicating drinks and great people! So grab your Christmas spirit and come celebrate the season with your fellow babas.

Looking forward to it already!

The Babalumni Board

P.S. Christmasy attire is optional but definitely not frowned upon.

Crayfish party – how to get there

For those of you joining us at Suomenlinna (and yes, we do have a list at the door just in case..), here’s what’s what:

After getting off the ferry, head for the ‘other’ island called Susisaari. From there on, follow the signs leading to “Tenalji vor Fersen”, which is right next door. Our site has the text Myllysali right next to the door (on the wall), and we will be having a ‘Private event’ sign just outside the door.

Crayfish party

Hello.

Will be sending e-mail regarding the Crayfish party in the near future to all those attending – Stay tuned!

BR,

Alumni Board

P.S. There are people who have signed up, but haven’t yet paid for their ticket. Do it Now or earlier, we hate sending reminders on such simple matters!

P.P.S. The party is booked full. No more people will be admitted. The location has its limits and all that.

Sign up for Crayfish Party 2011!

Dear Mikkeli BBA/BScBA Alumni,

You are hereby invited to the Annual Alumni Crayfish Party, taking place on Saturday, September 10th! With the Alumni Board freshly rejuvenated, we have set off with the goal of delivering the best Crayfish Party to date – and so, after missing a couple of years (as every annual event is allowed to do at least once), this legendary party is coming back with a bang!

To start things off, we made sure the location would suit our high standards. For this purpose, we opted for the event to take place in Suomenlinna’s Myllysali, a site known for not only the obvious historical aspect, but also for its ability to accommodate a party of this scale! Unfortunately, however, all sites have their restrictions; in this case, the party will have a maximum attendance of 60 people, accepted on a first come/first served basis – so be fast about it!

Secondly, the tickets are available at a price as low as 30 euros apiece! For this price, one will gain access to not only the crayfish, but also three ‘long drinks’ (which, in this case, are actually beer, cider or wine) AND three schnapps! Alternative food and drink options will be available to accommodate non-alcoholic / other diets (including non-crayfish) – the nature of which will be decided based on the information we receive from You.

Finally, we have a roughly 99,37% chance of an attendance ranging from BBA1 all the way up to BScBA8! Can’t beat that!

The Alumni Board will be selling additional beer, cider and wine at the venue through a Pentti-style ticket system, so remember to bring some extra cash! Also, we intend to continue the night at a restaurant on dry land once the crayfish have been dealt with – just something to keep in mind when setting out for the night!

To ensure your seat around the tables;

1. Sign up through the Contact & Registration form on the right side panel (Don’t forget to mention any possible allergies!!); AND
2. Pay the ticket price of 30 euros per person to the BBA Suomi Ry’s account 101330-140290 by August 14th! Please note, that signing is confirmed only once the payment is realized. (Do include the names of all persons being paid for, if more than one)
3. Be at the Myllysali on time, the party is to start around 18.00 (and last until 23.30 at this particular location)

Beyond these, just be prepared to have a good time – the Babalumni way!

Be seeing You there,

Your Alumni Board

P.S. We will be publishing more specific information on the location (i.e., how to get there) closer to the event date.

New Babalumni Board elected!

As of yesterday (May 23rd, 2011), Alumni operations have been under the management of a new board!

Board members are listed under the Board tab on the right – more detailed role descriptions to be added when available.

BBA/BScBA Alumni Annual General Meeting

Dear fellow alumni,

you are most welcome to join us for the Annual General Meeting and the drinks afterwards. The meeting will be arranged on the 23rd of May, 2011 at 6 PM. on the third floor of the KY building at Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 21 B, 00100 Helsinki.

The meeting will be held in the official language of the alumni association, which is Finnish, but oral translations of the agenda and the discussion are available. After the meeting, we will move downstairs to restaurant Nolla for general socializing.

See you on the 23rd!

BR,

Alumni Board 2010

Wappu, coming your way!

This year, the Babalumni board will not be erecting a tent to celebrate this bubbly fiesta on Sunday, May 1st. However, we expect current Probba to have their tent at their usual location at Kaivopuisto – making for a perfect (if unofficial) gathering point for Alumni as well!

On Saturday, April 30th, an Alumni meeting will be taking place on the Tuomiokirkko stairs (at Senaatintori, for those not familiar with the concept) – Alumni presence will be established around 5 p.m. at the latest.

Any and all Alumni are welcome to at least drop by – please note, however, that there will not be any banners, flags or such things to mark the spot due to the tragic loss of our beloved banner some Wappus ago… Since “more people” = “bigger partey”, we hope to see as many Alumni there as possible! =)

BR,

Babalumni Board

Alumni Ball 2011

Dear BBA/BScBA Alumni,

You are hereby cordially invited to the Alumni Ball on Saturday, 12th March 2011 at Restaurant Loiste in Helsinki. Dinner will be served at 19:00, with welcome drinks at 18:30.

A slightly less formal event than the Grand Annual in Mikkeli, the Alumni Ball gives you the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed yet sophisticated evening with fellow Babas in a unique environment with a rooftop view over Helsinki.

The Alumni Ball has traditionally been held every second year (with the exception of 2009). The last event took place in 2007. In addition to a great number of alumni, we are also hoping to see some of the staff, faculty and current Probba Board as guests at this year’s dinner.

From its beginnings as the brainchild of Dr. Heikki Urmas back in 1989, the Mikkeli programme has evolved from a unique high-quality pilot experiment to an example of excellence within the Aalto university structure today. It has been ten years since the last BBA class was starting their studies at Lönnrotinkatu 5 and the first BScBAs were applying to the programme back in 2001 – we feel it’s time to mark the occasion with a proper party!

So don’t miss this opportunity to mix and mingle with fellow Babas! Sign up NOW to reserve your ticket. The final deadline for registration is Sunday 13 February. There are only 40 places available and tickets are sold on a first-come first-served basis, so don’t hesitate as this event has traditionally been very popular. Please indicate when signing up if you have preferences regarding who you wish to be seated next to.

You can register for the event via the registration link on the right sidebar of this website, and paying the ticket fee to BBA Suomi ry’s account number: 101330-140290. Please include your name in the message field. If you have any allergies, let us know when registering and we will adjust the menu accordingly.

The ticket for the event costs 48€/person and includes a welcome drink and a sit-down dinner. Drinks can be purchased at the bar.

Dresscode: cocktail

Menu:

Hoping to see as many of you as possible in March,

With best regards,
The Alumni Board

PS. Spread the word to your classmates! The Alumni contact database unfortunately includes many old email addresses so we are not able to reach everyone.

Alumni Beers December

This just in – it’s almost December!

Especially interesting news, as this year December started to kick things off on a Wednesday…AND Alumni Beers!

This year’s Alumni Beers December/pre-Xmas hangaround/gathering/just-decided-to-drop-by event will, like many before it, take place at Memphis Hesari (Kluuvikatu 8, Helsinki) from 17.30 onwards, and will include a possibility to enjoy both Glögi and other (more or less Christmas-oriented) foods and beverages.

Apparently one of the biggest reasons for people not coming is that they know of nobody familiar coming…So; I’ve said it before, I’ll say it here again: Grab a friend, add some Baba spirit and join us! The more, the merrier – and Christmas is supposed to be particularly merry!

Welcome!
